why made in japan is good?

why made in japan is good

“Made in Japan” is such a simple phrase, yet it instantly evokes an image of exceptional design and high-quality production in our minds. Japan today is known for creating some of the most stylish, innovative, and unusual products in the world.

Advances in Japanese Manufacturing

Soon after World War II, Japanese industry started to rebuild. During that period, its products were of low quality, with poor durability. With developments in technology and quality control, Japanese manufacturing improved greatly by the 1970s. “Made in Japan” then became synonymous with high quality, durability, and cutting-edge technology, and Japanese companies began to expand their operations around the world.

japanese quality

Manufactured goods from Japan enjoy a well-earned reputation for high quality, durability, and sophistication. Japanese automotive manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, and Mitsubishi are among the largest in the world. It is little surprise then that Japan is the third-largest manufacturer of vehicles. Shipbuilding, robotics, and electronics are other notable manufacturing industries in Japan.

Japan does not rely on low labor costs to remain a competitive location for manufacturing. Rather, it relies on innovative product design, high-quality standards, and a world-class manufacturing workforce to remain competitive.

Important fact

In Japan, even the machine-made or mass-produced object often embodies the craftworkers’ ethic of monozukuri. This traditional idea is probably the most important influence on contemporary Japanese product design. Monozukuri means much more than making things. It is the commitment of the designer and manufacturer to do their best possible work by refining and redesigning repeatedly.
